Gertrude Lorena (Robertson) Crossman

Gertrude passed away in Red Bluff, California surrounded by her family on March 27, 2013.
Gertrude was born September 17, 1933 to Winifred Mae (Rutherford) and George Bennett Robertson. She was born in Patterson, California, and spoke fondly of growing up in Perry Sound, Ontario, Canada. On March 12, 1950 she married her one and only beloved sweetheart, Richard John Crossman, of Martinez, California.
Gertrude proudly served as the executive secretary to the President of Sunkist, Mr. Russell L. Hanlin, in Los Angeles, California, before retiring in 1998. After moving to Corning, California, Gertrude was involved in several non-profit organizations, including Corning Christian Assistance. She was immensely fond of her sweet mentee, Mittsel, whom she mentored for six years. Gertrude also found great joy in cooking and baking for loved ones, and her delicious pies were legendary. She loved spending time with her family and friends, including her Corning Presbyterian Church family, where she served as a Deacon.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, William Roger Robertson, Ora Elizabeth (Betty) Weaver, George Radford Robertson and Frances Mary Sorba; her son, Richard John Crossman, Jr., wife Ardyce, grandchildren Katy Benson, and Karen Crossman, and Paula Ofwono and husband David, and Brianna McGuire and husband Jesse, Jackson McGuire, Hannah McGuire; and her daughter Elizabeth Karen Harmon and husband Steve, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lisa Lopez, and husband Alex, Kirstie Harmon, Kolton Harmon, Elizabeth Lopez, Atom Lopez, and Erik Harmon and wife Jackie, Kylee Harmon, Chaz Harmon; and her daughter Kathleen Mary Crossman, grandchildren, Amanda McWilliams, and husband Jody, Bryan Curl and fiance Pamela Siter, and John Curl; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, and her mother, father, sister Hazel (Bobbie) Freeman, and close friend Mary Faulkner.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held at the Corning Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A lunch reception hosted by her dear friends at Corning Presbyterian Church will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gertrude's name to the Corning Presbyterian Church, or to St. Elizabeth's Hospice Program in Red Bluff, California.
