Maria de Jesus Modesto(1918-2012)

Maria de Jesus Modesto, 94, of Williams, Calif. passed away June 20, 2012, born February 1, 1918 in Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico. She met and married Timoteo in 1948 and eventually settled in Williams in 1950. Maria raised her family in Williams. Maria and her husband Timoteo became United States Citizens, despite the obstacle of learning a second language and limited reading and writing skills.

Maria is survived by her sons, Jess Modesto of Williams; Joe Modesto of Woodland; daughters, Lupe Ojeda of Williams; Mary Martin of Willows; Rosa Virgen of Sacramento; step-daughters Eliza Diaz of Williams, Ignacio Meza of Salt Lake City, Utah; 28 grandchildren; and 38 great grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the Williams Catholic Church.

Visitations will be conducted on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at McNary-Moore 107 5th Street, Colusa, California. Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation in Williams with Father Perlito de la Cruz and Father Miles officiating.
