Anna Lee (Gates) Tauscher was born February 16, 1928 in Kechi (Wichita), Kansas to Charles and Ruby (Jockers) Gates, the youngest of 11 children. At the age of 11, the
family moved to Santa Rosa, Calif. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School. She moved to Orland, Calif. with her family for the beginning of the family business, Gates
Tractor Company, where she was the bookkeeper and where she met her future husband of 60 years, Joseph Tauscher of Maxwell, Calif. They were married on May 3, 1953 in Orland. Joseph and Anna resided in Maxwell where they owned a dairy then farmed for many years. They were also very involved as leaders of the Maxwell 4-H. Anna worked for 20 years for Daughtrey's Department Store in Willows, CA first as a cashier/bookkeeper and later, as the office and personnel manager. They retired to Paradise, Calif. in 1994 where they have resided since. Anna passed away at the Paradise Hospice House on September 12, 2013 where she had been for two months following a stroke on July 4th.

Anna is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph Tauscher of Paradise; son, Anthony Tauscher of Willows; daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Douglass and husband Stuart of Los Molinos; daughter, JoAnna Birdsall and husband William of Paradise. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, grandsons Brian Douglass (Alea) of Aurora, Colo., Mason
Douglass (fiancé Christa Miguel) of Glenn, Calif., Kelly Douglass(Shannon) of Orland, Josh Birdsall of Sacramento; and granddaughters Ciara Tauscher of Willows and Jennifer Flood (Christina) of Rogersville, MO. She is also survived by 3 great-grandsons, Grayson Douglass and his mother Lisa Douglass of Phoenix, Ariz., Caleb Douglass of Aurora, Colo. and Heath Douglass of Orland. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; sisters Edith, Charlcia, Violet, Vera, and Frances; brothers Everett, Alvah, Howard, Ernest, and Allen; daughter-in-laws Sherry Tauscher and LaDonna Tauscher. Anna valued her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend of many. We will miss her sweet nature as well as her unconditional love and support.

Memorial services will be held for Anna on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Newton- Bracewell Funeral Home, 680 Camellia Way, Chico.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to PARADISE HOSPICE HOUSE c/o Feather River Health Foundation, 5974 Pentz Road, Paradise, CA 95969-9978. The family wishes to thank Dr. Lee, Dr. An, nurses, Chaplain Tom, Barb West, and staff of Paradise Hospice House for the wonderful, loving care given to their beloved Mother. The family also wishes to thank Father Al from St. Thomas More Catholic Church for his daily visits to Mom.
