Virginia died Jan. 13, 2013. She was born Feb. 28, 1923 in Peoria, Arizona to Louis and Jewel Berlin. The family moved to Colusa, Calif. when she was four. She graduated from Colusa High School. She married her high school sweetheart Clarence Salvador and moved to Benicia, Calif. There she met her second husband Lester Nelson and moved to New Orleans and then San Diego. She worked for the Civil Service as a clerk typist and office manager for thirty years. After her retirement she moved to Grimes and then returned to Colusa in 1983.

She is survived by her sons Vance Salvador of Burley Idaho. and Michael (Margaret) Salvador of Vacaville, Calif.; daughter, Luzil Webster of Vacaville, Calif.; 10 Grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Lowel (Lucille) Berlin of Colusa and Fred (Elaine) Berlin of Redding; sister, Darlene (Rayjean) Cation of Clipper Mills, Calif.; sister-in-law Vicky Berlin of Maxwell, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years Lester Nelson; parents Louis and Jewel Berlin; brothers Louis Berlin, Thomas Berlin, and James Berlin; sisters and brothers-in-law Lavonia (Earl) Day, and Mary (Vic) Garofalo.
A Graveside Service for Virginia Ruth Nelson will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Colusa Cemetery.
