Burle M. DeBord, 95, of Brighton, passed away June 8.  The Rev. DeBord was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Parma, Idaho, to Hugh C. and Mattie R.A. (Ross) DeBord. He graduated from Northwest Nazarene Academy in Nampa, Idaho, and received his bachelor of arts in religion from Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville.
Burle married Helen B. Shippey June 30, 1946, in Nashville. Upon graduating from Trevecca, the Rev. DeBord pastored churches in Glenn's Ferry, Rupert and Payette, Idaho, Seneca, Ore., and in Hereford, Quanah, Littlefield, Dalhart, and Seagraves, Texas.  He moved to the Denver area in 1974 and worked as an upholsterer for Denver Dry Goods and Country Club Upholstery.
After Burle retired, he learned Intarsia, the craft of creating artistic images in wood. He loved to fish, especially the streams of Idaho, Oregon, and Colorado.  He passed this love onto his son and grandchildren.
Burle was a creative problem solver and loved to work with his hands.  But he also loved to help people and started each day with the question, "Who can I help today?"
Survivors include his daughter, Karen DeBord Gookin (Nolan) of Fletcher, N.C., and Rebecca Johnson of North Platte, Neb.; a son, the Rev. David DeBord (Debbie) of Brighton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His parents; his wife, in 2004; his sister Norma DeBord; his brother, Marcel DeBord; and his son-in-law Edward Johnson, preceded him in death.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, which handled the arrangements.
