Laverna Elizabeth Younger, 89, of Brighton, passed away April 22 at her home in Brighton. Laverna was born Sept. 19, 1928 in Collyer, Kansas, to Agatha (Bach) and Andrew Brown.
Laverna lived in the Brighton- Commerce City areas most of her life and attended high school in Brighton. She spent most of her time, outside of raising her family, with her church, both Our Lady Mother of the Church in Commerce City and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Brighton.
Laverna loved to dance, particularly line dancing and polka. She was known for her baking, especially her pies and cakes. She enjoyed sharing her baking with the church priests, friends and family. Laverna enjoyed singing from a young age.
Survivors are her husband, Ernest, of Brighton; her son, Jim (Linda) Younger, of Fort Lupton; a daughter Pat (Wayne) Medlin, of Brighton; grandchildren, Tim, Nikki, Jennifer and Joe; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ciara, Brian, Emma, Riley and Peyton; sisters, Tina Roth, of Longmont; Berniece (Keith) Anderson, of Brighton, and Norma Brown, of Brighton; and a brother, the Rev. Charles Brown of Albuquerque.
Rosary and a Mass of Christian burial were April 26 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Brighton. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.
