Lt Col (RET) Sidney Kent Barwick passed away on the 7th of November 2013 at the age of 61. He was born on January 17, 1952 in Cherokee Iowa to Clarence Junior (WWII Veteran) and Ella Belle (Ralston) Barwick. Sid joined the Air Force in 1974 through the Air Force ROTC program at Iowa State University. He flew in the T-37, T-38 and A-10 and has been stationed in both Europe and the Pacific. He's flown over 2500 hours including 233 combat support hours in the EC-130 as the director, airborn battle staff during Operation Deny Flight. Sid received a Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University. He was retired from the Air Force in 1994. He then began working for Federal Express as a Pilot in February 1995. Sid is survived by his wife Sherry of Collierville, TN; his daughter Kelly Gonzalez and her husband, Richard; his son Jayson Barwick; his daughter Kristina Barwick; and his three grandchildren: Michael, Elizabeth, and Ariel. A memorial service will be held at Collierville United Methodist Church's Sanctuary on the Square at 11 am on Saturday November 16th. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
