Myrna Okeon Klazmer, 75, passed away May 25, 2013, at the Memphis Jewish Home. She was born August 4, 1937. Her parents were Sam and Estelle Okeon. She was the widow of Martin “Marty” Klazmer. She graduated from Central High School in 1955. Myrna attended the University of Illinois where she met her future husband. She was a member of Baron Hirsch Synagogue. The focus of Myrna’s life was her love for her four children, Brenda (Cliff) Liles, Scott (Barbara) Klazmer, Suzanne (Arthur) Back, and Shana (Arie) Hazan and her 13 grandchildren, Maryn Liles, Adam Liles, Blake Klazmer, Martin (Jamie) Klazmer, Shira Klazmer, Kayla Klazmer, Rachel Back, Daniel Back, Mirav Hazan, Noah Hazan, Avior Hazan, Leora Hazan and Ayala Hazan. She leaves a brother David (Pat) Okeon, and two sisters Elaine (Ronnie) Rosenberg and Doris (Don) Jackson. Myrna dedicated 30 years in service to the Beth Sholom Religious School where she was adored by all the children, especially the teenagers. She was a brilliant artist who brightened her parent’s home and her home with beautiful drawings and paintings. She was an accomplished calligrapher whose talents were in high demand.
