Cyril Henry “Cy” Forck, 92, of Memphis, passed away on April 19, 2013 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN after a brief illness. He was born in Folk, Missouri on a farm that was very dear to his heart. Tending the land and watching things grow was his passion until his death. On that day, despite torrential rain and cold temperatures, a row of tulips bloomed in his honor in his back yard. Cy served as Army Corporal in the 1st Calvary Division in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He married Helen Elizabeth Wilbers in Jefferson City, Missouri in 1947. They lived in St. Louis, Missouri where he was a diesel mechanic and shop foreman for Carrier Service Trucking Company. He was asked to open a branch in Memphis, Tennessee in 1966 where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a spirited man who loved life and living. He always did things his way. He refused to grow old. He walked religiously and believed exercise was the answer to all ailments. He could be found most mornings in his Harbor Town Neighborhood walking his white German shepherd along the banks of the Mississippi River. His other passion was fishing and when the river flooded in 2011 he was seen around the world enjoying fishing off of his back deck in a picture taken by the Associated Press. Cy was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wilbers, two brothers, Anthony Forck and Thomas Forck and two sisters Margaret Forck Hood and Jane Forck Pickert. Cy is survived by two daughters, Linda Forck Horne (Bill) and Lisa Forck Doss (Steve), his sisters, Therese Markway (Don) and Yvonne Wittman (Bill), and brother Joseph Forck (Bonnie) all of Jefferson City, Missouri, three grandchildren, Nikki Horne, Chrissy Horne Levick (Justin), Adelaide Doss and two great-grandchildren, Allie Leck and Layne Morgan. Visitation will be held Monday, April 22 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3700 Thomas Street, Memphis, Tennessee 38127 from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. There will be a private burial at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 3700 Thomas Street, Memphis, Tennessee 38127

Dear Forck Family,
I was saddened to hear of your father's passing. I had the honor and pleasure of caring for him during his hospitalization at the VA. The care, concern and love seen between Mr. Forck and his children was palpable. My deepest sympathy is with you all.

Dear Linda, Lisa, and family,
I just learned about your dad's death from Lucille, and I wanted to extend my deepest sympathy. I have many happy memories of your dad, especially how he and your mom liked to dance. I hope they are dancing together in heaven. Love, Joan (Wilbers) Fell and family
