LAWRENCE HENRY TIFVERMAN

Lawrence Henry Tifverman, 74, of Memphis died August 16, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born December 11, 1939 in New Paltz, New York. He graduated from Providence College. After serving 3 tours in Vietnam, earning him 2 bronze stars for his service, he retired as Major in the U.S. Army. He was also retired from United Way. Always an advocate for veterans, he dedicated much of his work and retired life as President, Board Member, and volunteer for Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Inc. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel (Gregory) Macri, of Kennesaw, Georgia and grandchildren, Peter, Philip, Andrew, and Molly. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Drive, followed by a reception. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Inc., 1183 Madison Ave., Memphis, TN 38104, or the West TN Veteran’s Home, Inc., PO Box 655, Cordova, TN 38088.
