JAMES JULIUS LONG, SR. “PaPaw” went to be with the Lord, on March 28, 2015 at the age of 92. Julius was born to Clarence and Gulnaire Long on April 21, 1922. He graduated from Bolton High School in 1941, of which, he was class president. Julius retired from Firestone after 38 years and was a Navy veteran of WWII. Julius and Nell were happily married for 63 years until Nell’s death in 2010. He was the proud father to his three wonderful sons Julius Long, Wayne Long (Barbara), and Sidney Long (Cherie). He was also the proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, David Long, Gina Seay (Jeff), Kristie Julian (Alex), Tracy Long, Brandy Long (Stephen), Chad Long (Lauren), Mindy Raburn (Ben); great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren, Brett, Chase, Briley, Hagen, Colton, Chloe. Julius enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, coon hunting, fishing gardening, country music, UofM Tigers basketball and Captain D’s. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends. The family will receive friends at a catered reception Tuesday, March 31 from 12 until service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in care of Cathy Rutledge, 7971 Brunswick Rd., Millington, TN 38053. Paw paw will be dearly missed. I smile though to think of him reunited with maw. He's left a wonderful legacy that his boys and family will continue to carry on.
