JAMES HENRY SCOTT

James Henry Scott, 92, of Oxford, MS, retired tire builder with the Firestone and Rubber Plant Frayser, passed away March 11, 2010 at the Veterans Home in Oxford. He flew a number of missions in the B-17, Flying Fortress, over Normandy, France and Rhineland as the radio operator with the U.S. Army Air Force 836th Bomb Squadron 487th Bomb Group, receiving the Air Medal. He was also a member of the Eaker Chapter, Distinguished Flying Cross in Sherwood, Arkansas. He retired to Bradford, Arkansas before moving to the Veterans Home in 2008. He is survived his son, Bill Scott (Virginia) of Novato, CA; daughter, Janice Roebuck of Washington D.C., brother, Jack Scott (Pat) of Coldwater, MS; grandchildren, Jade Drewes of New Windsor, NY, John Scott of San Francisco, CA; and one great-granddaughter, Sophie of New Windsor, NY. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel.
