NEW BOSTON- Leonard Leroy "Stoney" Stone, 93, of New Boston, a longtime Portsmouth resident, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born Aug. 19, 1922 in South Portsmouth, KY, a son of the late Charles Augustus and Pearlie Mae Egerton Stone.

Stoney attended the Portsmouth City Schools and he was a member of Central Church of Christ. He retired as the chief electricians technician from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility where he worked for 16 years and he was a former member and vice president of OCSEA/AFSCME #11. He was also named a Kentucky Colonel with a Medal of Distinction,

He was preceded in death Jan. 11, 1989 by his wife, June Rose Foster Stone, whom he married Easter morning April 18, 1965, in Portsmouth.

Surviving are two sons, Leonard E. Stone of Campton, KY and Rob (Angie) Stone of Rosemount; a daughter, Marcella J. (Bill) Conley of Columbus; a stepson, Eugene Foster of Murrells Inlet, SC; a daughter-in-law, Linda Stone of Grafton, NH; his special friend and sweetheart, Erma Sheets of Sciotodale; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a close friend, Richie Pratt of Portsmouth.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Charles and Raymond Stone, Beatrice Dean, Pearl Harris and Minnie Bendur.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Leonard E. Stone, Minister, and Chaplain Joshua Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and Friday from 10 until the funeral hour.
