ROBERT E. PARKER

Robert E. Parker, 1-20-1927 to 10-8-2016, passed away peacefully of congestive heart failure in the loving care of Delmar Gardens of Green Valley and Nathan Adelson Hospice. Born in Loveland, Ohio, a lifelong resident of Ohio, until the past 17 years when he relocated to Las Vegas Valley. Every morning he thanked God for another sunny day in Southern Nevada. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a graduate of Withrow High School, University of Cincinnati, attended Purdue and Ohio University. He loved the automobile business in both Cincinnati and Portsmouth, Ohio, but made a career change to Social Services and law enforcement the last 25 years. He was employed by Scioto County, OH DHS, Juvenile Court, Sheriff's Office and Ohio Department of Corrections at SOCF at Lucasville, Ohio as Director of Social Services. He was a quiet man, loved to read, loved his dogs, Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes and Bengals. He was a man of few words but never was misunderstood. Preceded in death by parents, Robert W. and Irma (Lewis) Parker, brother Kenneth (Elizabeth Petry) Parker. Surviving spouse of 50+ years, Sarah J. Smith-Parker; son, Robert Scott (Patty) Parker of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Teresa Parker-Brickey (Dave) of Portsmouth, OH; grandchildren, Kristi (Larry) Carter, Sheila (Robbie) Jenkins; great grandchildren; Sydney, Kara, Sara and Lola Carter, Luke and Landen Jenkins all of Scioto County, OH; nieces, Cindy Parker-Ratcliffe, Lori Parker-Baldi (Dick) and families of Cincinnati, OH; sister-in-law, Lois Smith-Tomlison (Jerry), brother-in-law, Larry (Barbara) Smith; nephews, Jerry Lee (Saundra) Tomlison, Christopher (Heather) Tomlison, Norman (Kim) Smith, Adam (Becky) Smith and families all of Ohio, Nick (Yvette) Smith and family of Texas. As he requested there will be no funeral. Celebrations of Life will be held in Portsmouth, OH and Naples, FL. Arrangements made at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123
