Barbara L. (Lyons) George

Barbara L. George, 86, of Fisherville Road died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home.

She was born in Manchester, daughter of the late William Sr. and Abigail (Tucker) Lyons. Mrs. George worked in the bindery department of the former Rumford Press. She loved to share her needlework as gifts to her family members. Barbara passed away after a long struggle with dementia. Prior to her entry into Merrimack County Nursing Home in August of 2013, her loving husband was her primary caregiver for the previous 20 years.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Roger S. George Sr.; two daughters, Dorothy MacInnis and her husband, Mike, of Bow, and Anne Piroso of Fayette, Maine; two sons, Roger George Jr. and his wife, Lou-Ann, of Penacook, Thomas A. George and his wife, Beverly, of Salisbury; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, William Lyons Jr. of Bow and James Lyons of Hooksett.

She was predeceased by one sister, Patricia Holmes Mancini, and two brothers, David and Frank Lyons.

There will be no visiting hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish/St. Johns, 72 S. Main St. Concord. Burial will be held in the spring at Evans Cemetery.
