Carol Mary (Pencence) Hammell, 72, of Fayetteville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.
Carol was born on February 4, 1941, in Concord and was the daughter of the late Pete and Henrietta Pencence. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Maronite Church.
Carol was a dedicated military wife for over 51 years, as well as a loving mother and wonderful grandmother to her family. She was a caregiver for her own mother for over 12 years. Carol enjoyed gardening and flowers, and she always made sure the birds had plenty to eat.
Carol joins her loving husband of 51 years, Arnold A. Hammell, her parents Pete and Henrietta Pencence, her brother David, and her grandson Robert Caldwell in eternal peace.
She is survived by her three daughters, Martha (Greg) Mast, Melinda Poorman, and Marion (Mike) Cains, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Eddie (Debbie) Caldwell of Parkton, Chase Poorman, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Raquel (Kyle) McCann, and Justin Cains, both of Fayetteville, Nicholas (Brianna) Mast of Minot, N.D., Quincey Mast, of Fayetteville; great grandchildren, Brandon Zerbo, Troy Edge, and Sommer Gardner, of Parkton, and Isabelle Mast, of Minot, N.D.; and her loving pet of 17 years, Bodie.
Carol was loved dearly and will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Private family burial will be held at a later date.
