Clifton C. Bartlett Sr., 95, of Pitman Street, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Merrimack County Nursing Home, in Boscawen.
He was born in Meredith, the son of the late John C and Myrtle (Manley) Bartlett. He was a graduate of Concord High School Class of 1934.
Clifton worked at the former Rumford Press for over 48 years before his retirement in 1981.
He played the drums in small dance bands during the 1930s and '40s. He was a member of the ITU Mailers Union and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, and maintaining his home. He enjoyed spending time at the lake and Hampton Beach.
Clifton was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, M. Doris (Maxfield) Bartlett, who passed away in 2005; and a sister, Rachael Beleski; and a son-in-law, George Rocha.
He is survived by his son, Clifton C. Bartlett Jr. and his wife Susan of Webster; a daughter Barbara Rocha of Fall River, Mass.; five grandchildren, Russell C. Bartlett and his wife Jennifer of Nashua, Jean Bartlett of Webster, Cheryl Gagliardi and her husband John, Kristen Costa and Heather Rocha all off Fall River, Mass.; and six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Waters Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Blossom Hill Cemetery.
