EAST CONCORD – Donald E. Daniels, 73, passed on to be with our Lord on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Concord Hospital. He fought a very short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family who loved him very much and will miss him tremendously.
"Donnie" was born in Plymouth on Sept. 5, 1940, the son of Henry Ernest Daniels and Mildred (Chivell) Daniels. He attended school in Rumney and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1958. He then attended Nashville Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, Tenn. He worked as a heavy machine mechanic at Jordan Milton/Southworth Milton Machinery in Contoocook for 40 years retiring in 2000.
He was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast traveling the old Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica, Calif., 13 times as well as the Alaskan Highway. He rode his Harley in 49 states and all the Canadian provinces. He was a member of the International Harley Dressers Touring Association and a Harley Owners Group.
His hobby was spending time in his weed-free vegetable garden. He was a NASCAR fan and a friend to the United Church of Warner.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Rose Chandler Daniels, of 24 years; a brother, Roger Daniels of Rumney; his daughter, Patricia Daniels Langford and her husband, Max, of Rumney; his son, Jay Daniels and his wife, Terri, of Loudon; stepdaughter Tami Jean Raynor of Warner; stepdaughter Kimberly Monroe of San Diego, Calif.; stepson Lane Monroe of Warner; stepson Daniel Monroe of Pittsboro, N.C.; 16 grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Jan. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook 03303. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Warner, 43 E. Main St., Warner 03278.
