EDGEWATER, Fla. - Ethel Joyce Adams Hughey, 69, passed away due to lung cancer on January 28, 2013, with her daughters by her side.
Ethel, most recently of Edgewater, Fla., was the youngest child of the late Herbert Houston Adams and Evelyn Maxine Bishop Adams.
She is survived by her older brother, H. Richard Adams and his wife, Cynthia of Perry, Maine; a sister-in-law, Patricia Adams of Leesburg, Fla.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Patricia Hughey Walborn and David Walborn of Spring Lake, Mich.; her daughters and their husbands, Jodie and Timothy Ingram of New Hampton, Paula Hughey Bordas and Nicolas Bordas of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren, Joseph M. Clifford Jr. of Harvest, Ala., Rebecca Ingram of New Hampton, Henry, Zachary and Quincey Sullivan of Lakeland, Fla.; a long-time companion, Kenneth Heath of Andover, and several nieces and nephews.
Ethel taught school in Maine before dedicating her life to being a "Domestic Engineer" and settling in the Nashua area. She was again called upon to teach while the family was in Saudi Arabia. Upon return to the United States, Ethel found her niche in the electronics industry, working her way up through the ranks of Digital Electronics Corporation until her opportunity to retire arose in 1999, after which she and her husband, (Lloyd) Paul traveled together extensively until he passed away in Sept. of 2000. She loved to bowl in her younger years, and played a mean game of scrabble right up until the end.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 22, at 2 p.m. at Restlawn Cemetery, Rural Route 1 in Perry, Maine.
