Gloria Jean Fournier, 82, of Penacook died Saturday evening, Sept. 14, 2013, at her home where she was born and lived her entire life. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Penacook on March 29, 1931, the daughter of Eugene and Alice (Spaulding) Fournier. Growing up in Penacook she graduated from Penacook High School with the Class of 1949. Gloria went on to dedicate more than 50 years to the state of New Hampshire, her first 25 years working at Vital Records and then the remainder until her retirement in 2004 with the Secretary of State's Office in Concord, where she was in charge of the Corporate Division.
Gloria is a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Penacook as well as being an accomplished pianist and artist. She has painted many oil paintings throughout the years giving them to, and sharing them with, her family. Gloria also enjoyed doting over all of her nieces and nephews over the years holding special places in her heart for all of them.
Gloria was predeceased by her three brothers, Lawrence "Joe" Fournier, David Fournier and Eugene "Alan" Fournier; her sister, Lucille Ann Fournier; and two nieces, Laurie Jeanne Davis and Tracy Fournier.
Gloria is survived by her many nieces and nephews and all of their children as well as her loving caregiver Marian McNeil and dear friend David Tardif.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at the Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St. Penacook 03303.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 9 Bonney St., Penacook. Interment will immediately follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Penacook.
