J. Stanton (Stan) Hallinan

J. Stanton (Stan) Hallinan, 78, of Bow, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Concord Hospital after a long illness. He was the only child of the late John J. and Louise (Stanton) Hallinan of Concord.

Stan owned and operated D & H Automotive in Concord with Tom Fry in the 50's and early 60's specializing in English cars.

Thereafter, he was a salesman for Grappone Toyota in Bow where he made many close friendships with his customers.

Stan also had a strong interest in anything pertaining to automobiles, and enjoyed repairing and restoring cars. Stan was an accomplished road racer who held track records at Mt. Ascutney, Vt. and Norridgewock, Maine.

He was also a great lover of Jazz music and was a long-time supporter of the Concord Community Music School. He attended many concerts by the all-time Jazz greats.

He was a member of the Bow Pioneers Snowmobile Club of Bow, Director and Secretary of the NH Snowmobile Museum, member of White Mountain Model A Club, Bow Open Spaces, Dunbarton Historical Society, Shelby American Automobile Club, NH Sports Car Club and many other car clubs.

He is survived by his cousins, Nancy King Riley of Cape Neddick, Maine, and Jeff Smith of Huntington, Mass. He is also survived by his long-time partner, Carol Bailey, of Bow, where they spent many hours at car shows and snowmobile events. They also ate their way through many church suppers.

There will be a gathering of friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Stan's name to Concord Community School, Financial Aid Fund, 23 Wall Street, Concord, NH 03301.
