Joan M. Angwin, 81, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at The Birches assisted living in Concord. Joan was born in Laconia, on Aug. 31, 1932. She moved to Concord where she met and married her husband (Sonny) Forrest G. Angwin Sr. of 64 years who preceded her in death in March of 2013.
Joan and Sonny were married on Nov. 5, 1949. They lived in Concord until May of 1970 when they purchased Camp Driftwood in Pittsburg.
While living in Concord Joan worked as a legal secretary for Zellars, Gallagher and Morse. Once at Camp Driftwood Joan and Sonny operated the Cottage Colony for 43 years. They met many guest over the years, most of them returning year after year to enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling as well as the quiet wilderness known as the great north country of New Hampshire. She enjoyed flowers of all kinds, fishing and boating as well as operating Camp Driftwood with her husband.
Joan is survived by two sons, Richard E. Angwin of Concord and (Bud) Forrest G. Angwin Jr. of Texas. Two brothers, Donald and Daniel; one sister, Dorianne; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband (Sonny) Forest G. Angwin Sr.; a son, Gary; and her sister Diane.
Graveside services will be held in the spring.
The Waters Funeral Home, Concord, is in charge of the arrangements.
