HOPKINTON - Kenneth "Ken" Peterson, 64, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, following a lengthy period of declining health. His loving wife was by his side and he was surrounded by the love of his family.
Ken was born June 28, 1948, in San Diego, the son the late Kenneth G. Peterson and Betty (Hinderer) Haake. He was raised in Long Island, N.Y., and was educated in area schools. Ken proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy
during the Vietnam War
. He moved to New Hampshire in the early 1970s and began working at the Highway Department of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
In his spare time, Ken enjoyed wood carving, golf and spending time at home with his family and his beloved dogs. Described by his wife as a very smart man with a dry sense of humor, he was everyone's first choice as a partner when playing Trivial Pursuit and he rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy. Ken was a strong, yet sensitive man, who had a deep love for family and friends and found great joy in having a house full of people.
Ken is survived by his wife, Terri (Charles) Peterson; daughters, Kristine Anne Brock of Texas and Diane Peterson of Texas; stepchildren, Frank E. Beck III of Penacook, Torri M. Beck of Northfield and Heather Peterson of Penacook; sisters, Nancy Mooney of Arizona and Debbie Marshall of Ohio; brother, Richard Marshall of Ohio; seven grandchildren; his very special "grandson," Robert Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Military honors will be presented at a graveside service Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
