Kenneth J. Higgins Jr.

Wilmot – Kenneth J. Higgins Jr., formerly of Pompton Lakes, Paramus, Colts Neck and Long Branch, N.J., died April 10, 2014, at his home in Wilmot, surrounded by his wife and daughter. He is survived by his wife, Maria T. Astaire, daughter, Kaitlin A. Higgins, and sister, Valerie, and brother-in-law, Frank Reihl.
Ken was a 1971 graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., where he earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with high honors. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity where he served as scholarship chairman and was a member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers, the Neumann Club and Toastmasters International. Ken also served in the National Guard.
Ken was music director at St. Gabriel's R.C. Church in Colts Neck, N.J., and was a member of the choir, a cantor and musician at Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach, N.J., and Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church in New London. He also assisted and played at The Gathering service at the First Baptist Church of New London. Ken also served on the Board of Summer Music Associates and developed their web page.
Ken forged a successful career in computer systems, network and custom software design and development. He was principle and managing partner of CNI Associates.
A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima, 724 Main St., New London, with the Rev. Robert Biron, pastor, celebrant and Father Rene Butler assisting. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Wilmot, at a later date.
