SILVER SPRING, Md. – Lorraine "Lori" Young, 72, of Springfield, Va., died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at the Arcola Rehabilitation Center in Silver Spring, Md.
Born in 1941 in Craftsburg, Vt., the daughter of Irving and Edith Wells, she made New Hampshire her home most of her life. She graduated from Simmons Free High School in Warner and earned a certificate in secretarial finishing from Pierce College. A lifelong learner, over the years she obtained a diploma in electrolysis and a Bachelor of Science in holistic nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health. After 25 years working for Concord Hospital, she later moved to Virginia to be with her daughters.
She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Dyment of Gilford; her two daughters, Dawn Taylor of Takoma Park, Md., and Jennifer Young of Bangkok, Thailand; and her grandchildren, Declan and Harper Taylor. She is predeceased by her parents, Irving and Edith Wells of Loudon, and siblings, Irving "Jun" Wells of Pembroke and Esther Miller of Loudon.
A service was held in Springfield, Va.
