PENACOOK – Lynne L. Howard, 71, of Penacook, passed away peacefully Monday, June 16, 2014, at Concord Hospital. After a valiant fight for many years, cancer took her life. Lynne was born on March 31, 1943, in Island Falls, Maine. She was predeceased by her parents, Leland and Marion Brown of Oakfield, Maine.
Lynne grew up in Oakfield and graduated from Oakfield Community High School in 1961. She attended the University of Maine in Orono, graduating in 1965 and majoring in Elementary Education. She taught school in Maine for 27 years and retired after teaching an additional year at Paul Simon School in Franklin. She was loved by her students and respected by her colleagues.
Lynne is survived by her husband of 28 years, Dan S. Howard of Penacook; a son, Jonathan Stevens of Texas; step-children, Jennifer Howard, Sean Howard, Kevin and Kristin Traeger and Krystal Blockhus; a grandson, Ryan Gilbert; and several step-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Robyn White; sister-in-law, Ann Spear; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lynne was an avid reader, and she loved music. She greatly enjoyed cooking and generously shared her recipes. Lynne was also involved with Reiki. She loved animals of all kinds and is missed terribly by her dog Rascal.
A service will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 12 p.m. at the Sovereign Grace Fellowship, 235 High St. (Route 4), Boscawen.
