Mary Josephine (Slattery/Adams) Towle(1924 - 2013)

Mary Josephine (Slattery/Adams) Towle, age 88, of Concord, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. She was born to the late James Joseph Slattery Sr. and Mary J. (Bolton) Slattery June 26, 1924 in Revere, Mass.

Her brothers, James Slattery Jr., Charles Slattery and sister Dorothy Slattery all preceded her in death.

Mary was a proud descendant of immigrants from Ireland and she married Charles Ralph Adams on St. Patrick's Day - March 17, 1946. She is survived by three children of this marriage; her sons James P. Adams of Seminole, Fla., Gary C. Adams of Manchester, and daughter, Karen A. Goldthwaite of Bedford. She leaves her grandchildren, Sean Adams, Kari-Ann Buchanan, Matthew Adams, Katryn Goldthwaite and Trevor Goldthwaite along with great-grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua and Liam and many nieces, nephews and a very special sister-in-law, Margaret Slattery of Somerville, Mass.

Mary is a long time resident of Somerville, Mass. and spent her youth enjoying competition roller skating. She worked for a few years at Raytheon until she chose to remain at home to be a full time mother. Mary moved to New Hampshire in the early 1970's.

While living in New Hampshire she worked for several different employers but two of these she would always cherish as special to her. She drove the Retired Senior Volunteer Program bus for the Community Action Program in Concord. The other was working for the NH County Registry of Deeds also in Concord. She retired from the latter with many friends whom she often saw and shared lots of great memories.

In her life Mary enjoyed dancing, bowling, arts and crafts, cooking and baking. She spent the later years of her life residing at Horseshoe Pond Place in Concord. She enjoyed the independence and friendships she made here. It was here she spent time working on her Word Search puzzles and when not with her loved ones, she was talking to them on the phone.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 6, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington Street, Penacook, with a service immediately following.
