Robert L. Stevenson, 82, of Canterbury died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon following a sudden illness.
Born April 8, 1931, in Chicago, he was the son of Frank and Mary (Heeter) Stevenson. Bob graduted from Calumet High School in Chicago and moved to New Hampshire when he was 18 years old where he attended St Anselm College. He worked for the state of New Hampshire for many years; first at the Attorney General's Office and then in Right of Way for the New Hampshire Highway Department.
Bob loved tennis in his earlier years. He also loved playing the piano, reading, doing crossword puzzles, classical music and his dogs, including his favorite, an Irish Wolfhound.
He was predeceased in 2011 by his daughter, Jennifer Sampson of Bow, his parents and two brothers, Fran and Jimmy.
Bob is survived by two children, Michael and his wife, Lori, of Greensboro, N.C., and Amy Richter and her husband, Paul, of Deerfield. He is also survived by son-in-law, Doug Sampson and his wife, Dedi Gilbert Sampson of Bow and Fountain Hills, Ariz.; his ex-wife and friend, Jean Stevenson of Concord; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Stevenson of Chicago and Agnes Stevenson of Epsom; and several nieces and nephews in different states.
