ALLENSTOWN - Mr. Roland H. Gagne, 90, a lifelong resident of the Allenstown-Pembroke area, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.
Born Nov. 6, 1923, Roland was the son of Edmond and Leonida (Martel) Gagne. He joined the U.S. Navy
during World War II and upon his return home worked construction for Pembroke Boats, Dugas Construction in Manchester, and Pequod Yachts in Concord. Before his retirement, he spent 15 years as a painter for Concord Hospital.
He enjoyed sports, especially fishing at Bear Brook, and had coached the St. John the Baptist Little League team. But more than anything, he enjoyed being with his family.
Members of his family include his wife of 68 years, Pauline (Goodwin) Gagne of Allenstown; three children, John Gagne of Hillsboro, James Gagne of Lancaster and Janet Moreau and her husband, Gilbert, of Litchfield; nine grandsons, Ryan, Randy, Joe, Josh, Mark, Matt, Nathan, Sean, and Ben; five great-grandsons, Kaedin, Anthony, Tristan, Mason and William; and nieces and nephews.
Roland was predeceased by his brothers, Prince, Spike and Bill; and his sisters, Jeannette and Doris.
Friends and family are invited to a gathering Saturday, Feb. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service at 12:30 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke.
Spring burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Allenstown. Details will be posted as they become available.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, NH 03301 in Roland's memory.
