GILFORD – Edward R. "Dick" Munroe of Gilford, formerly of Lynnfield and East Boston, Mass., died Aug. 14, 2014. The son of the late Marguerite F. (Cottreau) and Alfred Munroe, he was born in Boston on Sept. 30, 1929. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy C. (Gibbs).
He was also the loving father of Jacqueline Gauvin and her husband, Mark, of Laconia; Patricia Prudhomme and her husband, Donald, of Alton; and Janice Carbonneau of Atkinson. He was the brother of Claudia Moe and the late Marcy Holmes, Louis, William and Stanley Munroe; the brother-in-law of Anna Gibbs the grandfather of Kimberly Carbonneau, Thomas and Christopher Ryan, Brittany and Bryan Prudhomme.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was an Army veteran who fought in the Korean conflict. He was also a retired captain with Boston Towboat Co.
The funeral is being arranged from the Magrath Funeral Home, 325 Chelsea St. in East Boston, Mass. A funeral mass will take at the Sacred Heart Church in East Boston, Mass., at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Relatives and friends are invited.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Lakes Region General Hospital, Hematology/Oncology Dept., 80 Highland St., Laconia, 03246.
