NORTHWOOD – Frederick C. Borders, 85, of Northwood died Feb. 26, 2014, at Epsom Health Care Center.

He was born June 28, 1928, in Saugus, Mass., to Snow and Margie (Lathrop) Borders.
Fred grew up in Foster, R.I., attending school there and graduating from Coventry High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a 60-year member of Moriah Lodge Masonic Order of Brooklyn, Conn., and of the Eastern Star. Fred was also a former member of the Danielson Lodge of Elks in Danielson, Conn., and the South Killingly Fire Department in South Killingly, Conn.
Fred was a tree surgeon and owned and operated the Tennett Tree Service for many years in Windham, Conn. Upon moving to New Hampshire, he worked for Merriam-Graves Corp. for 26 years.
He leaves his beloved wife of 63 years, Nancy (Tennett) Borders of Northwood; his loving children, Norman and Laurice Borders of Danielson, Conn., Carl Borders of Northwood, and Paul and Sue Borders of Meredith; four precious grandchildren, Rhiannon Borders and husband, Chris Anderson, of St. Louis, Mo., Nathan Borders and wife, Christie, of Plainfield, Conn., Megan Borders of Meredith, and Brian Borders of Meredith; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy Anderson and Olivia Borders; a brother, Henry Borders and wife, Miriam, of Danielson, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
A service honoring Fred's life will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery Association Inc., P.O. Box 626, Concord 03302.
