K. Brooke Stebbins, 59, of Concord, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in Concord.

She was born April 5, 1953, in Rochester, N.Y., to Winifred Curtis Stebbins and Theodore Holmes Stebbins. She graduated from Brighton High School, attended Pine Manor College in Boston and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duke University in Chapel Hill, N.C., in 1975. She also pursued a Master's in Public Health from Boston University.

She lived briefly in Worcester, Mass., and Charlottesville, N.C., before moving to Concord in 1979. She also enjoyed spending time at her family's home in Bailey Island, Maine. In the year before her death, she lived with her sisters in California and Manchester. Most of her career was spent working in the health care and early childhood field, as a nurse, in public health for the state of New Hampshire, and for The Children's Place in Concord. She also worked as a television reporter for Channel 9's "Speaking of Concord" program and spearheaded the creation of the Concord Crew Club.

Brooke was a generous and active member of the community who was passionate about the environment, arts, women's issues and young people. She was strongly independent, loved to sail, ski and be outside, always had a creative project going and fiercely loved her daughters. She cared deeply about the people around her and about creating a better world.

Brooke is survived by her two daughters, Kate Eubank and Leigh Eubank, her mother, her sisters Cynthia Monnelly, Susan Jergesen and Jocelyn Guice, along with numerous well-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Concord with a reception at the church to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brooke's honor to The Children's Place and Parent Education Center at P.O. Box 576, Concord, NH 03301.
