Karen Driscoll, 59, of Mountainside Drive, passed away at home with her daughters and devoted companion at her side.

She had a long courageous fight with a respiratory illness.

Karen was born on June 19, 1954, in Dorchester, Mass., the daughter of F. William and Bernice "Bea" (Blum) Ahearn. She spent her early years in Milton, Mass.

She was a registered nurse and was employed by BU Medical Center.

Talented in many areas, Karen loved decorating, gardening and cooking. Many years ago she moved to New Hampshire and enjoyed skiing and was especially proud of her association with NEHSA.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Kathleen Anne Ahearn.

Members of her family surviving include the love of her life with whom she spent the last 13 years, Kevin McDermott of North Sutton; her daughters, Tara Driscoll of North Sutton and Keira Driscoll of Duxbury, Mass.; siblings, Michael Ahearn of Westport, Mass., and Bristol, R.I., Kevin Ahearn and his wife, Maggie, of Boston, Bill Ahearn and his wife, Jean, of Raynham, Kristin Pomponi and her husband, Peter, of Waltham, Mass.; nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Lodge at Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury.
