APOPKA, Fla. – Miles Allen "Swig" Suojanen, 78, of Apopka, Fla., died suddenly Sunday, June 20, 2014. Miles was born October 19 1935, in Concord, to Arvo and Milderd Suojanen. He graduated from Concord High School in 1955, he joined the U.S. Navy and was a proud " tin can sailor". Miles then attended the Boston Museum School of Fine Art.

In 1960 miles married Rita (Guimond) Martel of Concord and they had two children, Erik and Holly. He worked as the commercial artist for Channel 11 in Durham, and for Channel 2 in Orlando, Fla. for many years.
Miles, a free spirit, went on to own and operate Bluebeards, an oyster bar, and spent the next 40 years as a freelance graphic artist. In addition to signs of all types, he painted on vehicles, boats, billboards, and just about any surface up to and including hot air balloons. He was talented,creative and passionate about his art, but always found time for BMW and Triumph motorcycles, VW bugs and vans.
In June of 2000 Miles was preceded in death by his son, Erik Suojanen.
He is survived by his daughter. Holly Suojanen of Dunbarton; and his sister, Sylvia Bailey of Bristol.
Miles will be placed in the ocean off Nubble Light House in York, Maine where his ashes will join those of his son Erik.
