CHICHESTER – Mrs. Barbara Clark, 79, of Pleasant Street, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the Concord Hospital.

Born in Haverhill, Mass., on Feb. 18, 1933, Barbara was the daughter of the late Royce and Doris (Jones) McGowen. She attended Coe-Brown Academy and had spent her lifetime in Chichester, Pittsfield and Northwood. Barbara and her husband also made a second home for themselves in High Point, Fla.

Before her retirement she had worked for A&P and IGA in Pittsfield, and Shaw's in Concord as a cashier.
Barbara enjoyed all kinds of crafts and took an interest in community affairs as well. She was a member of the Pittsfield Historical Society and a former member of the Pittsfield Budget Committee. She also belonged to TOPS NH #38 in Pittsfield.
Her greatest joy though was her family. Barbara lost her beloved husband of 63 years, Leslie Clark, in September 2011.

She is survived by seven children: Patricia Freeman and her husband John, Terry Clark and Pamela, and Sandra Courtemanche and Russell, all of Pittsfield, David Clark and Lisa of Hendersonville, N.C., Connor Clark and Kathleen Bovay of Kerrville, Texas, William Clark and Maryanne of Deerfield, and Robbie Clark and Nicole Smith of Gonic; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; three brothers, Bruce McGowen of Tacoma, WA, Gary McGowen of Nottingham, and Bill McGowen of Northwood; a sister, Sue Benoit of Nottingham; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 4-7 p.m. at the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home, 1217 Suncook Valley Hwy in Epsom. Services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Committal will take place at Floral Park Cemetery in Pittsfield in the spring.
