PENACOOK - Edwina Littlefield Morrill, 89, of Penacook, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home where she had resided.

Born, January 31, 1924 in Winterport, Maine, she was the second child and only daughter of Merle F. Littlefield Sr. and Eva Whittier Littlefield. She grew up in Guilford, Maine and moved to Penacook in 1941. A 1942 graduate of Penacook High School, she went on to graduate from Keene Teachers College in 1946.

A strong and independent woman, she married David J. Morrill in 1946 and together they successfully operated Morrill Farm and lovingly raised their family, Allyn and Joe Gilbert of Henniker, and their sons Tim and Aaron, and Tim's sons, Owen and Henry; John B. Morrill (deceased) and his son Kirk and Jesse, and their sons Jason and David, of Contoocook; Mary Ann Wareing of Deerfield, and her family Catherine and Alden Dill and Charlotte and Emory, Karin and Andy Allisandratos, and William Wareing; Robert and Sherri Morrill of Concord and their children, Andrew and Christie Morrill and son Benjamin, Kimberly Morrill and her son Derek, and Kevin and Ryan Morrill; Rebecca and Paul Colby of Pittsfield, and their daughters Rachel and Megan; Cindi and Richard Jaques of Penacook, and family, Lucas and Jennifer Zalenski and their children Nicole, Hunter and Allison and Bethany and Ray Marier; and Lou Ann and Ed Darling of Laconia, and their sons Eian and Dan.

In addition to her husband David of 66 years, Wina was also blessed with a very special friendship of more than 75 years with Geraldine Hoyt of Penacook. She is also survived by two brothers, Drexel (Joseph) Littlefield of Amesbury, Mass., and William and Dorothy Littlefield of Sangerville, Maine. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her extended family includes scores of international exchange students who called "The Farm" home and learned about American life under her guidance.

She was predeceased by son John B. Morrill of Penacook in 1995; and brother Merle F. Littlefield Jr. of Sangerville, Maine in 2001; and her parents Merle Littlefield Sr., in 1987 and Eva Whittier Littlefield in l988.

Loving wife and helpmate, proud mom, Merrimack County 4-H leader for more than 40 years, founding leader of Busy Butterflies 4-H Club in Penacook, member of Associated Farm Bureau Women of NH, (past president 1989-1993), former member and chair of Merrimack Valley Regional School Board (25 years), 1980 NH Mother of the Year, member of Penacook-Boscawen Extension, and former member of Penacook United Methodist Church. She believed strongly in education and the value of learning by doing.

Calling hours will be held Friday, May 3, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home.

Services will be held Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m., at the United Church of Christ in Penacook, followed by internment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edwina's memory to the Edwina L. Morrill Scholarship Fund at Merrimack Valley High School, c/o Dr. Michael Jette, 106 Village St., Penacook, 03303.
