CONTOOCOOK – Frances Brown, age 97 1/2, died on January 19, 2013, at the CRVNA Hospice House in Concord.

She was born in West Hopkinton in 1915, and was a life-long resident of West Hopkinton/Contoocook. Frances was the daughter of Emma (Blanchette) and Milo Robertson. She graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1932.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert D. Brown, in 1985, her two brothers, Shirley Robertson and Everett Robertson, and a son-in-law, Jack Lichty. She is survived by her four children and their families, Joyce Lichty of Wilmot; Robert and Cricket Brown of Chichester; Sue and Dick Strickford of Contoocook; and Dean and Nancy Brown of Antrim.
"Nana" was very proud of and encouraging to her ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Frances worked at Sylvania, Aerotronics and Northeast Electronics before her retirement. She learned to use the computer in her 80s in order to email her grandchildren and use the internet. She was a 59-year member of the Rebekahs, and a member of the Contoocook Grange. She was a faithful Red Sox fan, loved pampering her poodles, enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and was known for her "green thumb" and her Beanie baby collection.
A graveside service will be held in the spring in Henniker.
