HILLSBORO – Gerda S. Carnes, 77, a long time resident of Hillsborough, went to be with the lord on March 26, 2014, from her home, surrounded by family in Crossville, Tenn. following a long period of declining health. She was born on April 14, 1936, of the late Joseph and Katharina (Halli) Goerk in Frankfort, west Germany.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Bruce A. Carnes, who died in 2013.
Survived by her son Anthony of Portsmouth; two daughters, Ellen Elliott, of Crossville, Tenn. and Brenda Labombarde, of Searsport, Maine; son-in-law, William Elliott and Wayne Labombarde; five grandchildren, Nichole, Jazminn, Brandon, Lindsay and Wayne; six great-grandchildren, and a sister Waltraud Chaney, of Valrico, Fla.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m. in the Henniker, New Cemetery, Henniker.
Following the service there will be a reception at the Henniker Congregation Church Hall 43 Maple St., Henniker.
