Gertrude L. Page, 82, of Concord passed away peacefully Monday, March 11th, 2013. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Gert was born in Concord, September 28, 1930, the daughter of the late Arthur and Marion (Fletcher) Bowen. She was raised in Bow and was a graduate of Concord High School, Class of 1948, where she was a proud member of the CHS Color Guard throughout her high school career. Gert made several lifelong friends at an early age; the group of them became fondly known as "The Bow Girls." Following graduation Gert worked as a bookkeeper at Concord Electric. She met Russell Page sailing on a boat on Great Bay and they were married in 1955.

Gert was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who turned heads everywhere she went. She was a devoted homemaker and gifted cook whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. She had a deep love of the beach and spent many years traveling and taking Caribbean cruises. She enjoyed quiet time spent with her knitting and cross-stitch and she had an unusually lucky hand at Bingo. Gert had a passion for books. She was the 32nd person to obtain a library card at Baker Free Library in Bow, a library card which she used regularly for nearly 75 years. Gert and her wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

Gert is survived by her husband of 58 years, Russell Page; daughters Laurie Abbott and her husband, Rick, of Elizabeth, Colo. and Jill Page-Dole and her husband, Jed, of Concord; son Bill Page and his "First Mate", Karen Taylor, of Concord, and Brewster, Mass.; her beloved grandson, Max Page of Concord; step-granddaughters, Kelsey Dole of Boston, and Skye Dole of Lovell, Maine; sister, Pauline Bowen of San Carlos, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Robert Bowen.

Gert will be laid to rest at a private graveside service at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers donations in Gert's memory may be made to The Baker Free Library c/o Lori Fisher, 509 South Street, Bow, NH 03304.
