NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Harriet M. Wallace Ballou, 69, passed away at her home Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.

Harriet was born in Pittsfield, on June 5, 1944, the daughter of the late Helen and Leon Wallace Sr. She was raised in Northwood and attended the Northwood Schools and Coe-Brown Academy.

She married Ronald (Buddy) F. Ballou Sr. on Nov. 26, 1960. They had two sons and resided in Northwood. She was a very caring and loving wife and mom. The love of her life was tragically killed in a horrific work accident in 1979.

In 1992, Harriet, her two sons and two grandchildren moved to New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She was very proud of her orange trees and large garden filled with beautiful flowers and statues. Harriet suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis for most of her life. She was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The youngest of four siblings, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Douglas Wallace, Edward Wallace and Leon Wallace Jr.; and one sister, Muriel Emerson Ennis.

She is survived by her two sons, Ronald F. Ballou Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and Roy Ballou of Edgewater, Fla.; two grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per Harriet's wishes, there will be no service.
