SANBORNTON – John "Chuckie" Di Nitto, 94, of Shaw Hill Road in Sanbornton, formerly of Concord, was liberated from the shackles of dementia in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, where he slipped away peacefully in his sleep. John was the 2nd of five sons born to Erasmo "Ray" and Anna "Anita" Di Nitto in Somerville, Mass. on Jan. 9, 1923.

John served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II as a canoneer. He worked his way up from dishwasher to Chef at Angelo's Italian Restaurant in Concord and in the early 1960's became a U.S. Postal Clerk in Concord, retiring in 1983.

He was predeceased by his parents, Erasmo and Anna (Pavia); his 1st wife of 19 years, Mary (Ritchie); and his 2nd wife of 45 years, Ethel (Wexler) Ritter; his brothers, Genaro, Thomas, Cosmo and Joseph; and his eldest son, John Thomas. He is survived by son, Robert and his wife, Carolyn (Brown) of Sanbornton; daughters-in-law, Martha J. (Beust) Di Nitto and Susan (Dore) Ritter, both of Concord. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
