DEERING – Kenneth Francis Parker, 88, of Manselville Road, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Claremont on March 28, 1926, to Ralph and Mildred (Stockwell) Parker.
He attended school in Charlestown. Following his schooling, he worked eight years as a tree surgeon for Chase Tree Service in Keene. He then was employed for 34 years with the Public Service Company and retired in 1985.
On November 1, 1947, he married Melvena (Zeludancz) Parker in Hillsboro where they made their home. Later they moved to Contoocook, where they raised their three daughters. As Kenneth neared retirement, he and Melvena moved to Deering, residing at the same location for the remainder of their lives.
Kenneth and Melvena enjoyed traveling by motor home and visited 48 states. At one time he owned his own standardbred and he and his family enjoyed travelling to the country fairs where he competed. Kenneth was an avid reader and always learning. He enjoyed the outdoors, tending to his large vegetable garden and fruit trees, mowing his lawn or haying. His family was his pride and joy.
He is survived by his three daughters, Janice Bolton of Deering, Linda Lett of Rochester and Lana Parker, of Northfield Falls, Vt.; five grandchildren, Stephen Samson and his wife, Keil, of Kitty Hawk N.C., Christopher Samson of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., William Lett of Abbott, Maine, Stephanie Prete and her husband, Michael, of Rochester and Sarah Furtado of Rhode Island; and eight great-grandchildren, Parker, Ella, Matte, Selah, Colby, Marcus, Noah and Joseph.
Kenneth was predeceased by his wife, Melvena, who died on October 2, 2013, and his only sibling, Donald Parker, of Bennington.
A graveside service will be held on Friday June 20, at 2 p.m. in St. Charles Cemetery, Hillsboro. Pastor Paul Gaylord of Hillsboro Baptist Church will officiate.
The family would like to thank all of Ken's doctors, nurses and caregivers for the excellent care he received during the past several years, with a special thank you to Dr. Mark Walrod.
