Mary "Marie" Aubin Archambault, 75, passed away on June 26, 2014, at her home following a courageous 11-year battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and went peacefully to be with her savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on Nov. 22, 1938, Marie was the seventh and youngest child of the late Ulric and Yvonne (Isabelle) Aubin. Her mother, Yvonne, succumbed to tuberculosis just over a month after Marie was born.

Marie spent her childhood in Newington, Conn., and was a 1957 graduate of Newington High. After high school, she worked for Hartford Fire Insurance in Hartford, Conn., which is where she met her future husband, Bruce Albert Archambault Sr. Marie and Bruce had their first date on Christmas Eve 1957, were engaged on Jan. 29, 1958, and were married on June 7, 1958. She identified "catching him" as her greatest accomplishment, "Which didn't take much, just me wearing a red dress." Marie and her husband lived briefly in Springfield, Mass., and then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, for six years before settling in New Hampshire in 1966. Marie was employed by the Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles for several years. After Marie and her husband retired in 1993, they enjoyed summers at Lake Gorham in Dunbarton and winters in Port Richey, Fla., as well as frequent visits to Ogunquit, Maine. After almost 56 years of marriage, Bruce passed away on April 30, 2014.

Marie loved to spend time with her family and friends and was greatly loved by them all for her soft spoken nature and her desire to help others who were less fortunate. She loved to shop, aka "browse"; she loved gadgets, ziplock bags, organizing drawers, folding laundry, bingo, going out on the boat (casino), and playing rummikub and hand-and-foot. She also loved to read and was frequently on Facebook communicating with family, playing games and sending game requests to friends. Marie loved to cook, and "What can I get you to eat?" was her favorite line to family and guests.

Marie leaves her children and their spouses: Bruce Jr. and Barbara Archambault of Waynesville, Mo.; Steven Sr. and Jean Archambault of Northfield; Mark and Melanie Archambault of Aurora, Colo.; David and Jan Archambault of Penacook; Donald Archambault of Hudson, Fla.; Paulette and Michael Yeaton of Pembroke; Bernard and Kori Archambault of Warsaw, Mo.; Michael Archambault and Eric Benander of Worcester, Mass., and Susan Demos of Concord; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Marie is survived by two sisters, Gemma Josephson of New Britain, Conn., and Jeanine Steucek of Wethersfield, Conn., and maintained lifelong friendships with her best friends Ann Gabriel, whom she knew since they were in diapers, and Jackie Stromberg since the third grade, in addition to her close friends Yolande LaPrise and Norma Lang. She was predeceased by her brothers, Lucien and Eddy, as well as her sisters, Gilbert Bednarz and Lillian Mancini.

Friends and family are gathering to pay their respects Tuesday, July 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown, followed by burial in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Daughters of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 226 Grove St., Littleton, N.H., 03561, in memory of Mary A. Archambault.
