Peter S. Bashios, 85, a longtime resident of Concord, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at the Hospice House surrounded by his immediate family.

He was born Northern Epirus, Greece, the son of the late Spiro and Magdalene (Moskos) Bashios.
He came to the United States in 1948. He owned and operated South Street Market for many years. He also worked at St. Paul's School for three years as a finished carpenter.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Concord and the Elks Club.
Peter enjoyed spending time at his family beach house in York Beach, Maine. He loved the ocean and deep sea fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Magdalene Bashios of 55 years. Peter is also survived by his two children, Maria P. Spiropoulos and her husband Charles of Wollaston, Mass. and James P. Bashios and his wife Robyn of Concord; by three grandchildren, Christian Bashios and Peter Alex Bashios of Concord and Angelina Spiropoulos of Wollaston, Mass. He is also survived by his brother Emmanuel Besho and his wife Eleni of Concord; two nephews, Vasili Besho and his wife Krissa of Concord and Spiro Besho and his wife Ellie of Concord; and also many cousins.
He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Christina Bashios.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m., at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 68 North State St., Concord. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
