SUNCOOK - Rita L. (Gilbert) Lemay, 84, a longtime resident of the Pembroke - Allenstown area, died Friday evening, Aug. 3, 2012, at the Epsom Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.

Rita was born Feb. 6, 1928, to Ernest P. and Marie Anne (Brosseau) Gilbert. She worked for Northern Telecom in Concord for many years. Rita married Ovila Lemay in 1960.
Rita was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured spending time with her family and loved ones who fondly referred to her as "Mem." She was a talented seamstress and quilter and enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards. She also loved going to the beach. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies of Ste Anne.
She leaves a daughter; Monique Lemay, and her partner Diane Hurney of Pittsfield; a grandson, Erik Halvorsen, his wife Alice and their daughter Chloe of Salem, Mass.; a grandson, Cory Halvorsen, his wife Heather and their three children, Tyler, Rhiannon, and Jaiden of Barnstead; a brother, Lucien Gilbert; sisters Theresa Campbell and Elizabeth Plante; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Gerard and Roger.
Calling hours are Monday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke, where members of the Ladies of Ste Anne will meet for a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown, with burial following in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, where Rita will be laid to rest alongside her ex-husband, Ovila.
