PENACOOK – Robert Coulter Sr., 79, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen.

Bob was born Nov. 23, 1933, in Bow to Maxwell and Frances (Buck) Coulter and was brought up there. He was a graduate of Concord High School, Class of 1952.

Bob served in the United States Army for two years and was in the New Hampshire National Guard for another 10 years after the Army. He worked in the automotive field for more than 40 years, working for the City of Concord as a maintenance mechanic for many years, before going to work for Pike industries as a truck driver. He also enjoyed the years he worked as a bus driver for the Merrimack Valley School District and, most recently, as the rest stop attendant in Canterbury for 10 years, retiring in 1995.

Bob moved to Penacook in 1958, coming from Concord, and was a member of the West Congregational Church, as well as a member at the Bow Grange. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren, especially in the summer when they could use their pool. He also enjoyed working on old cars and attending antique car shows around the state.

Bob was predeceased by a son, Richard Coulter, in 2000, as well as several brothers and sisters.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Beverly (Dimond) Coulter of Penacook; a daughter, Sharon Crane and her husband, Glenn, of Boscawen; six sons and their spouses, Robert Coulter Jr. and Marsha of Evergreen, Colo., Daniel and Kim Coulter of Webster, David Coulter of Grafton, Steven Coulter and companion Deb Matott of Penacook, John Coulter Sr. and Becki of Boscawen and Jeffrey and Kristal Coulter of Laconia; a sister, JoAnn Luikmil of Chichester; 26 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Jan. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at the West Congregational Church, 499 N. State St., Concord.

Internment will immediately follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord.
