PLANO, Texas - Robert (Bob) Grant Olsen was born February 28, 1934 in Laconia, to Elmer and Marion Olsen. Bob passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 in Plano, Texas.
The Guest Book is expired.
Bob started his career in the Army at a young age and retired after serving the United States for 20 years. While in the Army, Bob received many awards, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Marksman Carbine, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Bronze Star Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster Commendation Medal.
Bob retired from his military career in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he and his wife of 46 years, Carol Louise Bowker Olsen, raised Tonya and Danny. Bob then enjoyed more than 20 years as the Maintenance Manager for School District 3 in Widefield, Colo. When he wasn't working, Bob liked to fish, camp and play card games. He loved testing his luck at the slot machines in Cripple Creek, Colo. and usually came home the victor.
To honor his memory, Bob leaves his son, Daniel Olsen; his daughter, Tonya (Brian) Olsen-Johnston; his grandchildren, Sarah and Sam Johnston; his sister Elaine Lavery of Boscawen; and many nieces and nephews in New England. Bob's sister-in-law Barbara Bowker (Daryl Myers) and many wonderful friends also survive.
Bob's wife, Carol, his parents, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
A private family service will be held this summer in Colorado Springs where Bob will receive the full military honors he deserves for his honorable service to our country.
