Sister M. Christina (Patricia) Branswell, 90, a Sister of Mercy for 68 years, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, after a period of declining health. A native of Concord, she was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Maher) Branswell.

Sister Christina received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in education from the former Mount St. Mary College, Hooksett, and her M.L.S. in library science from the University of Maine at Orono. She was a dedicated teacher in Catholic schools in New Hampshire. She taught at McDonald School in Manchester; St. Patrick High School in Berlin; St. Mary High School in Claremont; Bishop Brady High School in Concord; and Mount St. Mary Seminary in Nashua where she was also vice principal. In addition to teaching, Sister Christina was a librarian and organized the libraries at Bishop Brady High School; Mount St. Mary Seminary; Immaculata/Trinity High School in Manchester; Castle Junior College and Warde Health Center, both in Windham. From 1989 to 1994, she served as vice president of the New Hampshire Regional Community. For more than 30 years, Sister Christina also worked part-time as the archivist for the New Hampshire Regional Community. She had a deep knowledge of and appreciation for the history of the Mercy community and its influence on the present. After her retirement in 2003, and up until her death, she volunteered as the librarian at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Windham.

Family members include her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Everet Gage, and several nephews, as well as the members of her Mercy community. She was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Grant.

Friends may call at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 21 Searles Road, Windham, on Wednesday, June 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
