Thomas Perkins Obituary

PLYMOUTH - Thomas Daniel Perkins, 25, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011.

Tom was born September 24, 1985 in Provo, Utah. He is the son of Dan and Jill Perkins of Plymouth.

Tom is survived by his parents; his brother and best friend, Andrew Perkins; grandparents, Helen Perkins of St. George, Utah, Elwood and Ruth Hardman of Evergreen, Colo.; as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Tom graduated from Plymouth Regional High School in 2003, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Following high school he attended Mass College of Art in Boston and graduated in 2009 from Plymouth State University with a BA in Fine Art. A gifted artist, Tom specialized in digital art, drawing, and painting. One of his works was recently chosen for a summer juried art show at the AVA Gallery in Lebanon.

Tom was an avid rock climber and loved to spend time on the rocks with his brother and uncles Chad, Todd, Matthew, and David Perkins in southern Utah, as well as in Rumney. He also enjoyed programming his own computer-generated music and playing the guitar and piano.

His family is grateful for the many professionals, volunteers, and friends who helped in the search and rescue efforts for Tom.

Please join us for a gathering in Tom's honor Sunday, September 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Common Man Inn in Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Tom's memory to the American Art Therapy Association: http://www.arttherapy.org/

The Mayhew Funeral Home and Crematorium, in Plymouth and Meredith, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

Jill, Dan and Andy and the rest of the family, Our family is shocked and saddened by this news. I saw you Jill and one of the boys (was that Tom?) in the audience for Dan's beautiful 9-11 concert. We will always have fond memories of the first Peter Pan performance featuring both parents and Tom as Michael. Jamey was lucky to be chosen as one of the lost boys. It was a great experience. In sincere sympathy from Mary, Mike and James Cooney

Dear Jill, Dan, and Andy,
Kurt, and I will always have fond memories of Tom. He was only about eight, or ten, when we first met him. I remember talking to him, about Finland, when I substituted for his primary teacher. He was so smart and well behaved. Kurt enjoyed having him in his class. I taught his seminary class when he was a high school freshman. He, and Isaac, were usually half asleep, but I can hope that they learned something.
Please know that we are here for you. We will always remember sweet Tom.
Miriam and Kurt Case, Campton,NH

Dear Jill, Dan, & Andy,
We feel for you all. Please know it warmed our hearts to give to the American Art Therapy Association in Tom's memory. We selected "outreach to students" and think Tom would have liked that. He'll always have a special place in my heart with museum memories at PES. Take care of yourselves. Always, Karen & Frank McLoud

Although Tom only worked for our company for a short time, he was a valuable member of our team & left a lasting impression on those who worked with him. He found friends here that shared his same passion for climbing & he will be missed. Our prayers go out to his family from myself & the entire Transparent Language QA Lab.

"And we wept that one so lovely
should have a life so brief:
Yet not unmeet it was that one,
like that young friend of ours,
So gentle and so beautiful,
should perish with the flowers."
(William Cullen Bryant)
