Leona H. Asker, 91, of Presidential Oaks, Concord, passed on peacefully Thursday, June 2, 2011 after a brief stay at Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association Hospice House.

Leona was born August 8, 1919 in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of the late Ralph M. Gray and Norma H. (Clark) Gray. She grew up in the Boston area and then moved to Manomet, Mass. where she lived for 60 years. She recently moved to the Concord area where she has lived the past four years.
Leona was a devout Christian Scientist and a first reader at the 1st Church of Christ, Scientist, Plymouth, Mass. She graduated from Somerville High School and attended night classes at Northeastern University.
She was a dedicated conservationist and a founding member of Wildlands Trust of Southeastern Massachusetts.
Leona worked at John Hancock Insurance, Cambridge Oldsmobile, and retired from a lengthy employment with the town of Plymouth Massachusetts / selectman's office. She also worked at the Plymouth Airport as an office administrator. She was a self-employed accountant / tax preparer for H&R Block. Her volunteering was extensive and included tax preparation for seniors, ministering as a Christian Science Chaplin at Bridgewater State Prison, and had a lifelong dedication to the welfare of animals, which was expressed through the giving of her time and support to many organizations.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Leona was predeceased by her husband Carl Asker, her brother, Cortland M. Gray, and her sister Phyllis I. Buck. She is survived by her sister Joan L. Clark, Strafford, and nieces Vallana M. Pratt, Eliot, Maine, Holly R.Connelly, Scarborough, Maine, Susan H. Pratt-Smith, Northwood, and nephew Brian W. Clark, Warren.
There will be a private gathering in her honor in Manomet, Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Orenda Wildlife Land Trust, (508) 362-4798, or CRVNA
